60's Inspired Shoot - Brighton Beach

I was recently contacted by photographer Claire Huish to do a 60's inspired photo-shoot. It was to be on Brighton seafront with a mod type feel. The mood board above is a collection of inspiration images from the shoot. I wanted to select a few base colours to link the styling together. I used mainly bright oranges with navy blue, white and green to set it off. I also wanted to stay clear of the typical shift dresses and bring in more skirts and trousers which were also worn during the time.

We began early with make-up artist Lydia Pankhurst setting the hair in the 60's style beehive.
Our first location was on Brighton Pier, this was a lovely setting but because of it being a beautiful Sunday morning the pier was very busy and we had quite a few spectators. Luckily for us our model Lizzie was very professional and ignored the gathering crowds.
After the pier we moved to the location of the Royal Pavilion Gardens where Lydia took down Lizzie's hair to create a softer look.
Our final location was in the Brighton Lanes with the cobbled streets as a backdrop, the same location in which 60's mod film Quadrophenia was filmed.

These are the final images by Claire Huish. I am really pleased with the softness and clarity in the photographs. I think the colours work really well with the lighting showing the styling to its true potential. I hope you like!
